As the wind shifts
Daylight dies upon the water
Mournful sorrow drifts
Racing beneath its slaughter
Gently now we darkly weep
With eyes that bleed but sand
Driven like the blackened sheep
Harrowing across barren land
Bleating fright in woeful tones
To stagger beneath this sight
Alas, alas, we are but bones
In the birth of endless night
Tis too late to staunch the tide
Too long we’ve denied its blight
All chances impatiently set aside
Blinded with self-centered sight
Oh woe a path of wicked pride
Has exposed our dreadful ways
Our decay we can no longer hide
Tis twilight in the end of days
Drinking of her essence soothes his tongue of dust
Dark leathery lickings completely devoid of lust
Thickly cloaked eyes glowing weak colors of rust
Sneering satisfaction at such propensity to trust
Burning sensations tingle and skip over the skin
Hidden sparks ignite a seething cauldron within
Ghost shadows dance wildly with the hint of a grin
Shedding her mortal disguise in a caricature of sin
The dark demon retreats in a shocked hiss of shame
As the demoness advances in the blackest of flame
Thus begins the twisted dance of denial of blame
Once of demon design now it is humanity’s game

"You may run
And you may hide.
But you will die."
Her taunting laugh is an echo
Unavoidable
Impossible to ignore.
I stagger from dead eyes that glow
Inevitable
Death surrounds, awaiting more.
Fear strangles the beat of my heart
Monstrous
Shadow stalks my form in sight.
Zealous footfalls signal and mark
Ominous
Beginning to sense my fright.
"To save them
You must decide.
Is it you time to die?"
She dances in blissful ecstasy
Intoxicated
From the scent of newly dead.
In the silence comes her mimicry
Nauseated
I wander, heavy with my dread.
Darting out my fleeting vision
Tempting
Silver knife reflects my lies.
